How?

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2009-04-19-illinois-water_N.htm

Didn't people learn any lesson from watching Erin Brockovich?? You CANNOT contaminate people and expect to get away with it! This town south of Chicago continued to use well water which officials notified them of being contaminated with cancer causing agents, over 20 years ago. What sparks people to put things before an entire village of people's health? I'm interested in watching the follow-up of this story because the actions on the part of the town water-suppliers seems so primitive and unintelligent. The article didnt go into it but I'm interested in knowing the reprocussions of these people's actions...

  1. This kind of stuff happens all the time. I remember my mom covered a story like this in neighboring towns of Bath and Nazareth a long time ago. There was this trend of all these children at the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia getting admitted due to cancer from these regions. As you know, a lot of this area around Bethlehem was devoted to plants (steel, concrete, etc.) and it turned out that a lot of the toxic waste was just being burned and put into the air, ground, water, etc. Because of children's immune system, it was affecting them the worst, and there was a outrage about it. I can't believe that people can still do this stuff and get away with it. It's more than just money when you are actually hurting people's well-being.
